Privacy
Privacy considerations for the Fide ID method.
Fide ID is designed for stable identification, not confidentiality.
- The Reference Fingerprint is not intended to provide secrecy or confidentiality.
- If a Reference Identifier comes from a predictable or guessable space, it may be possible to derive the same Fide ID by recomputing the fingerprint.
- Because Fide IDs are deterministic, they can enable correlation of the same entity across systems.
- Implementations and applications SHOULD avoid treating Fide IDs as privacy-preserving identifiers.
